I like to think of this time of year as a re-do of the New Year! The first born sign of the Zodiac, Aries makes it's debut on the calendar, and so it begins, all of it-All over again. All is fresh and new and smells better. All is spoiled and young. All is naive and bold. There is no holding Spring back- It's coming up from the ground-pastels and peplums.

With Pisces here and queer, I declare it the month of scales, fins, and fancy delusion- A drowning kind of romance - All things lousy & washed out disguised with fantasy and the most glorious shoe collection. Pisces is quite the feminine fish, so soften up and surrender to the aesthetic of undone, post sex hair / lace/ sheer/ trains/embellishments/velvet/ruffles/diluted colors/floral/watercolor prints/feathers.

For fishies it's more about a costume than an outfit-A chance to use their imagination-and communicate. Though they're highly emotional, it's not their nature to spill their guts--Pisces do it through creating a scene through their threads.

'Gone Gonzo', a blue glitter polish from the 2011 OPI 'Muppet' Collection is my color of choice to kick off Aquarius. It reminds me of what it would look like if the sea and sky came together just for your manicure. Seems likely, right? Crazier things have happened. No? Well, anything is possible in the mind of an Aquarius, so at least they can get into it.

A very Happy Belated Birthday (1/18) style tribute to my absolute favorite musician on planet earth-so completely genuinely provoking happiness in my bones. Capricorn, Joanna Newsom owns my ears with her harp plucking, piano playing, tall tales, and meandering and otherworldly voice. Her songs sound like getting lost in a magical meadow somewhere, and never wanting to find your way back, but alas, your itunes stops and unwillingly drags you back to your downtown apt. Much like Joanna's melodies and lyrics, her style is dainty and bizarre- a combination I will forever and ever fancy. Do yourself a favor--allow yourself to fall into the enchanted rabbit-hole that is the land of Joanna Newsom. Make your ears happy.
